~Lazy Day~

Oh My Gosh, I'm having such a lazy day. Brooky and I are sitting here watching Wonder Pets. Yes, I said Wonder Pets. I can sing the theme song and everything. The funny thing is it's an episode where they are in Oregon and of course they mispronounced it. It isn't pronounced Orygone. It's pronounced Origun! :) (I'm from Oregon by the way, in case you didn't know that) Anyway, since I was bored I decided to grab my laptop and make a sketch. Here it is :)

So back to Wonder Pets... They are in Oregon, like I said, and they are saving an owl with the help of fireflies??!!! I have NEVER in my ENTIRE life seen a firefly in Oregon. What's up with that? Wonder Pets needs to do a little bit more research before making their shows. With that said, I hope everyone is having an awesome weekend!! Don't forget to bless someone today!! :)

~Graphic 45 Projects~

I love Graphic 45 and when I heard about the DT call they were having, I had to try out. They had a very unique way to submit this year and I think it was very clever. They asked that you submit via your blog and post 10-15 projects. So here are my submissions for the 2011 Graphic 45 DT call.
Graphic 45 always seems to inspire me to do photo shoots. The Halloween in Wonderland line inspired me to create a little Alice of my own. I dressed my daughter, resembling the Alice from G45. I created this layout along with a mini 5x5 album.
I was very excited for the Steampunk Debutante line. It's such a cool trend and again it was very inspirational. I took photos of my daughter, Tyler, for this paper line.
These are 1x1 kitchen magnets I made while I was a guest DT for G45 a while back. I also created the following layout for that as well.
These last two were actually my very first G45 layouts.

~New Dusty Chippies~

I recently received my DT pack of all the new chippies and I've been having a blast playing the last few days. I just finished this layout using several different chippies. I also couldn't wait to use this new brick stamp I found on Ebay!! I love it!! This photo is my daughter Tyler. She has the most amazing eyes!! She got those from her Dad :)
I can't tell you how much I love UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel)! I coated these Dusty Flower Layers #3 (DA0504) with some distress ink, then UTEE, then sprayed some Smooch spritz over them. The leaves (DA0508) are also covered the same way.
I so love this stamp. I found it as I was searching for the Prima wall stamp that has been discontinued. I saw this one and had to buy it. It's already has the staggered brick look which was what I wanted. The "couture" is from the Mini Words #3 chippies (DA0477)
The frame is also a Dusty piece and I coated this with distress ink and distress stickles. I then sprayed a little Smooch spritz here and there on it. The frame is called Fleur de Lis Frame (DA0511) There is more pieces to it that I will use on another layout!

Remember to check back March 1st for a LOAD of brand new Dusty chippies I'm giving away!!

Thanks for stopping by and God Bless!

~Gabi's Dusty Giveaway~

Scraps of Darkness Full Reveal

Scraps of Darkness had an early reveal for February, but the DT only released one or two layouts. So here is the full reveal of layouts for The Telltale Heart kit from SOD :) Talk about another amazingly versatile kit!! This kit has dark and whimsical all in one!!

This 1st layout was created for Suepups Challenge, both at SOD and at scrapbook.com. The challenge was for a forbidden love or dark love story. There are endless couples to choose from like Romeo and Juliet or Anthony and Cleopatra, but I went with Sonja and Lucian from Underworld 3. Sonja is a vampire an Lucian is a lycan. Here is my mixed media style layout.

I dyed some glitter glass with black alcohol ink and coated the edges of part of my layout. Check out this awesome embellishment that was included in the kit. SOD always has unique and fun embellishments!!
This piece of Dusty Attic was not included in the kit, but I had to add it. I coated it with embossing powder an inked it a little. I mixed molding paste with acrylic paint for added texture to the page.
I dyed this flower with some of the mists included in the Color Add On.
I made some mini roses with some of the paper in the kit and mixed them in with this gorgeous trim also in the kit.

This is my whimsical layout that was inspired by GabrielleP. I just adore her look of whimsy in her layouts and I used her little technique of torn book pages placed here and there on the page. I added in a ribbon that I used for her photo headdress and one of my all time favorite pieces of Dusty Attic vine chippie.
I laced the ribbon down the edge and made the bow separately at the bottom.
Tip: I have a bunch of those feather butterflies with the cheezy bodies and I haven't used them because I can't stand the ugly bodies on them. So I tore the wings off of one an created my own body :)
Tip: You don't always have to use every part of a bling flourish in one are. I cut my ZVA apart to create a butterfly trail as well as using it as a flourish.
Using very fine glitter and adhesive spray is how I covered the vine chippie. I did ink it lightly first.

Another challenge over at SOD called Skeletons in my Closet is going on right now and it's the theme is Drama for this month. I created a couple layouts for the challenge. One is serious and one is cute and lighthearted. This is my serious one. I call it Curtains. This is based on what goes on behind the curtains of life. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed, stressed, under appreciated, etc and I hardly ever show it. I put on a stage face and smile through it all. Life isn't always perfect an mine is full of drama. I always turn to the Lord for guidance and strength when times like this occur. I dyed some lace material and used it as a back drop for this layout. I also used some of the beautiful black trim included in the kit.
I bent one of my stick pins to create this little charm holder off to the side.
Some of the florals on the layout. This kit has some great mini roses. I did dye the center decorations of this flower so they weren't white.
The hearts were beads left from my stick pins I made. I am also selling several sets of different pins in my Etsy right now :)
Here is my 2nd light hearted layout I created for the Drama challenge. This is a bit more simple than my other layouts, but I felt like the background paper did a lot of work all by itself. This is a pic of Brooky I took of her giving me the stink eye.
The beaded trim is so beautiful and that cam in the kit. Love this stuff!! I did dye the ribbon section of the trim black.

This is a closeup of the pin I made for the kit. I also made a transparency for this as well.
The flowers in this kit and the add ons were so beautiful and they went a long ways!! I still have some left after five layouts!!

I'm letting everyone know that this kit sold out on reveal day and the kits to come are ALL just as cool, so be sure to get your hands on it asap!! Subscribing is the best way to guarantee you getting a kit!!

Thanks for stopping by and God Bless

~Dusty Attic Upcoming Giveaway~

Dusty Attic came out with some new chippies recently and I have a couple of them on this layout. These foliage chippies are gorgeous and there are several to a sheet. This photo is my husband's baby cousin. I took this shot of her and added wings using Photoshop. I also based this layout on a sketch from Beggahuna.

*****Just to let you know, I will be giving away a bundle of new Dusty Attic chippies in March!! I'm telling you, you DO NOT want to miss out on that yummy giveaway!!
Here is a close up of one of the foliage chippies. I inked the flourishes first then used distress stickles over the top. This leaves a beautiful vintage look.

Get More Out of Your Paper SOD Tutorial

When I did the sketch layout for Scraps of Darkness I decided to put together a tutorial on a trick I do to get more out your papers. Basically it shows you how to create a multi layered page, like the layout below, by only using one sheet of cardstock and two sheets of double sided patterned paper. Check it out!!

~Scraps of Darkness Early Reveal~

Because of the theme of this Scraps of Darkness kit, Melinda decided to release it a bit early for all of those Valentine's lovers. This gorgeous kit is called the Telltale Heart. Oh and don't get me wrong, this kit is again so extremely versatile that you can go several different directions with it. Because of the early release I don't have as many layouts to share at this time and I will be posting again on the 15th with the rest of my work from this kit.

This months kit includes double sided papers from Kaisercraft, SEI, Teresa Collins, and Echo Park, as well as one single sided foil paper from Kaisercraft. Also included are some amazing embellies which include products form Prima, ZVA, Teresa Collins, My Mind's Eye, and much more! Don't forget that each kit comes with one of my signature decorated stick pins as well.
I wanted to post the addons as well because of how awesome they are. This first one is the Romance Add On that has gorgeous flowers and bling!!
This is the Color Add On which has two bottles of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam and one bottle of Glimmer Glaze, along with two shades of Smooch Spritz and some beautiful masks from Prima! Yummy!!As always SOD offers Cardstock an additional Pattern Paper Add Ons as well.
I did get time to work on the sketch layout which is a take on Suepup's gorgeous sketch she made specifically for this kit. I also was able to put together a tutorial on how to get more out of your papers, which I will be posting in the near future.
This was my take on the sketch and I used a photo of three of my daughters with two friends of theirs that we met on scrapbook.com. Tracy who owns StayTrueToGod.com is their mom. She is a wonderful lady!!
Here is a closeup of my pin that I decorated with a gorgeous red heart, beads, ribbon and tulle. The black heart flourish ha white edges, so I took some black chalk ink and darkened them up.
For the transparencies I stamped images of leaves on to them using StazOn ink and then cut them out. I also did this with the transparency that my title is on.

Remember to check back on the 15th for the rest of my reveal layouts for SOD!!

Thanks for stopping by and God Bless!!
