~ Glam Grunge ~

Who says grunge can't be girly? I had this urge to get messy last night, so I pulled out a 12x12 canvas and went to town with molding paste, gesso, inks, paint, lace, jewellery, diecuts, paper clips, and more. I used a couple of Dusty Attic laser cut dies and dressed them up a bit.
I wish I could take credit for the paper clip idea, but I can't and I want to give credit where it is due. Another staff member over at Scrapbook News and Review magazine named Scarlett Salamone created a layout covered in paper clips and I loved it, so I lifted the idea from her.

The two photos below feature close ups of the Dusty Attic dies I used. I covered the lock in gold alcohol ink and got it a little grungy. The gorgeous scroll is partially covered in ink and gesso.

This is just a close up shot of the messiness and the lace. I used a few pieces of old costume jewellery I had on hand including this cross. In this shot you can see that I also applied some mesh for added texture.

Dusty Attic Debut!!!

Here is my very first Dusty Attic layout!! These die cuts are so gorgeous and can be left totally bare and still dress a page up. However, I couldn't leave mine bare :). I used some recent pictures I took my of daughter Rylee wearing a black wig. I also wanted to use another one of my hidden meaning titles. "Dare" stands for dare to always be different and unique. I took some close-up shots!!

I used a couple of the laser die cuts on this layout. This one here is one of my favorites. I just love the flourish and the frame all in one. I dyed mine with some Ranger raisin colored alcohol ink and highlighted it with a bit of pearl metallic paint.

Isn't this bird incredible?! I also dyed it with some Ranger alcohol ink in raisin, but I went over some of the feathers with metallic Smooch paint.

I thought I would show these circles up close a bit. I cut them out of Prima Pastiche paper and distressed and inked the edges. It's an easy way to dress up the background and add detail.

The papers used on this layout are a combination of Basic Grey and Prima. The flowers and bling are also Prima.

~ Acrylic Sheets and a What's to Come ~

This is the first time I used an acrylic sheet without actually covering it entirely with paints and inks. I really like how it turned out. It's one of my more simple layouts, but the meaning is bold. The title "SEE" has a double meaning... one for the fact you can see through part of my layout and the other for the excitement I have for Brooklyn to see all the wonderful things in her lifetime.

The edges were inked in Ranger raisin colored alcohol ink and I let it run just a little. The paper is Bo Bunny, the flowers are Prima Pastiche, the bling is also Prima. I used black Scribbles puffy paint for the ring of pearls. I love how easy that stuff is to work with. I was missing out. On another note:

~ A Couple Toots to Share ~

I am officially a DT member of Dusty Attic and am so excited about it!! Dusty Attic offers a gorgeous line of laser diecuts that are so detailed and perfect for scrapbooking and other projects. I can't wait to get my first shipment of goodies to show off to you!!

I was also offered a position with Scrapbook News and Review Magazine to be a staffer!!! I never in a million years thought I would be blessed with such a wonderful opportunity as this. I am very thankful for both of these opportunities!!

Prima Goodness

I LOVE Prima and the newest Swirlydoos kit was flooded with so much of it!! I haven't had a ton of time for scrapping this month and this layout took me a total of three days to complete, because I kept having to set it down and get something else done. I finally got my title on it today and got some pics taken. I used some of the new Prima packaging and journaled on it as well. So here is my latest.

I took some gold stickles and outlined the Prima felt. The mini letters were just printed off my computer, cut and inked with alcohol ink. The 2nd picture has a close up of a Prima butterfly.

I printed the photo on matte paper so I could ink the edges and give it a mild distressed look. The round cardboard like paper is brown cardstock that I ran through my crimper and painted with gesso and other inks.

My Scrap Area

I decided a couple months ago that I needed to do something with my scrap area, because I was beginning to forget what I had and things were shoved here and there. My organized chaos became overly chaotic. I had to figure something out and soon because I was loosing my mojo for scrapping!! So I saw these shelves that Ikea had and they were absolutely perfect for what I wanted. They have 16 shelves which all have 13x13 inches of space. PERFECT!! I also bought some boxes from Ikea to help hide all my this and thats. I'm not totally done, because I need to get something to fill my vase :). Oh and this is basically a corner that I claimed and the room is shared by my computer desk and various toys including a large rocking horse. You can see the bottom of the rocking horse in the bottom right corner of the photo.

This is something that I have wanted to do for awhile and finally got it down. I had SOOO much ribbon and I had it all in a box and I was getting frustrated digging through it all the time. This is a Mini Clip It Up and I know that Clip It Up makes a wall mount for ribbons, but I wanted something I can pick up and bring to my work table. I managed to get 120 clips with some of the ribbons doubled up, so I think I have around 140-150 different ribbons on here. LOVE this thing!! I found the best deal on this at Amazon and I found packages of 40 clips for around $10.00 with $1.00 s/h at Overstock.com!!

Oh So Nice!!

I wanted to do a layout using Swirlydoos products that was based on a sketch made by one of SDoos awesome DT members and I finally did. This layout was made with the new March kit and I based it on a sketch made by Robin aka Lovestocreate.
One of the best things about joining Swirlydoos is having access to some AWESOME new techniques and tutorials!! This flower I did on this layout was made from a tutorial that Lisa aka StarSailorScrapper did over at SDoos. She did the tutorial using paper, however, I used a blue metal sheet from Ten Seconds Studio. So thank you Lisa for this awesome flower!!
These wood looking letters were actually done using white Creative Imaginations chipboard letters. I used Ranger "Ginger" colored alcohol ink and let them dry. Then I sanded the tops which gave them this really neat grainy wood look. I think they went really well with the photo too.

Check out my spot coloring tutorial in the previous post. It's really pretty easy to do and it jazzes up a photo a new fun way!!
