~ First You Tube Tutorial - Ribbon Butterflies ~

My 12 year old, Rylee, has been showing a lot of interest in making videos. So I decided to make a video tutorial of my ribbon butterflies that I have sold in my Etsy store. After I was finished Rylee edited it and posted it on You Tube for me lol. So I wanted to share it here with you. I haven't figured out how to attach the actual video in my post, so I am just linking it for you below the photo.

~ Glorious Destruction ~

Yes More Grunge!! I have decided that I seem to go two different directions when I scrap. On one end I have shabby chic and on the other I have grunge/mixed media. So should my new style be Shabby Grunge? Who knows! This latest layout of mine is another one of my "shabby grunge" creations. This was made as an example layout for a challenge over at Swirlydoos. The challenge is of course to grunge, distress and creatively destroy your layouts. I used a pic of my daughter Tyler who is only 9 years old. She looks so grown up, it's scary!!

These are just some standard chipboard letters that I inked and sanded. Very easy technique to do.

I love distressing ribbon and lace. Lace especially will add a very feminine touch to what might be a more boyish style of layout. This pic also shows a great shot of the fun mess I made on the background. I used molding paste as a base, then added color by using alcohol inks and mist sprays. I almost always use my fingers and I just swirled the color together a bit, not completely though. I also added some black sparkles. After all glitter is my scrappy dirt :)

I have been sitting on these Tim Holtz acrylic shapes for awhile and decided to break them out for the first time on this layout. I dyed them with alcohol ink and stacked them in an overlapping fashion. You can get a neat look at a gob of paste with glitter in this shot too. Also you can see that I used felt as the photo mat.

These flowers were easy to grunge up. Flowers are of course another way to bring a feminine flair to a grunge layout. You can see a glimpse of some stitching I did at the bottom corner as well.

Some of the products used for this layout were 7 Gypsies pattern paper, Petaloo flowers, Golden molding paste, and Ranger alcohol inks and acrylic shapes.

~ Glam Grunge ~

Who says grunge can't be girly? I had this urge to get messy last night, so I pulled out a 12x12 canvas and went to town with molding paste, gesso, inks, paint, lace, jewellery, diecuts, paper clips, and more. I used a couple of Dusty Attic laser cut dies and dressed them up a bit.
I wish I could take credit for the paper clip idea, but I can't and I want to give credit where it is due. Another staff member over at Scrapbook News and Review magazine named Scarlett Salamone created a layout covered in paper clips and I loved it, so I lifted the idea from her.

The two photos below feature close ups of the Dusty Attic dies I used. I covered the lock in gold alcohol ink and got it a little grungy. The gorgeous scroll is partially covered in ink and gesso.

This is just a close up shot of the messiness and the lace. I used a few pieces of old costume jewellery I had on hand including this cross. In this shot you can see that I also applied some mesh for added texture.

Dusty Attic Debut!!!

Here is my very first Dusty Attic layout!! These die cuts are so gorgeous and can be left totally bare and still dress a page up. However, I couldn't leave mine bare :). I used some recent pictures I took my of daughter Rylee wearing a black wig. I also wanted to use another one of my hidden meaning titles. "Dare" stands for dare to always be different and unique. I took some close-up shots!!

I used a couple of the laser die cuts on this layout. This one here is one of my favorites. I just love the flourish and the frame all in one. I dyed mine with some Ranger raisin colored alcohol ink and highlighted it with a bit of pearl metallic paint.

Isn't this bird incredible?! I also dyed it with some Ranger alcohol ink in raisin, but I went over some of the feathers with metallic Smooch paint.

I thought I would show these circles up close a bit. I cut them out of Prima Pastiche paper and distressed and inked the edges. It's an easy way to dress up the background and add detail.

The papers used on this layout are a combination of Basic Grey and Prima. The flowers and bling are also Prima.

~ Acrylic Sheets and a What's to Come ~

This is the first time I used an acrylic sheet without actually covering it entirely with paints and inks. I really like how it turned out. It's one of my more simple layouts, but the meaning is bold. The title "SEE" has a double meaning... one for the fact you can see through part of my layout and the other for the excitement I have for Brooklyn to see all the wonderful things in her lifetime.

The edges were inked in Ranger raisin colored alcohol ink and I let it run just a little. The paper is Bo Bunny, the flowers are Prima Pastiche, the bling is also Prima. I used black Scribbles puffy paint for the ring of pearls. I love how easy that stuff is to work with. I was missing out. On another note:

~ A Couple Toots to Share ~

I am officially a DT member of Dusty Attic and am so excited about it!! Dusty Attic offers a gorgeous line of laser diecuts that are so detailed and perfect for scrapbooking and other projects. I can't wait to get my first shipment of goodies to show off to you!!

I was also offered a position with Scrapbook News and Review Magazine to be a staffer!!! I never in a million years thought I would be blessed with such a wonderful opportunity as this. I am very thankful for both of these opportunities!!

Prima Goodness

I LOVE Prima and the newest Swirlydoos kit was flooded with so much of it!! I haven't had a ton of time for scrapping this month and this layout took me a total of three days to complete, because I kept having to set it down and get something else done. I finally got my title on it today and got some pics taken. I used some of the new Prima packaging and journaled on it as well. So here is my latest.

I took some gold stickles and outlined the Prima felt. The mini letters were just printed off my computer, cut and inked with alcohol ink. The 2nd picture has a close up of a Prima butterfly.

I printed the photo on matte paper so I could ink the edges and give it a mild distressed look. The round cardboard like paper is brown cardstock that I ran through my crimper and painted with gesso and other inks.
