I just did a quick copy and paste of all the call details below!!
Scraps of Darkness kit club is looking for designers to add to our talented Design Team! If you
love the alternative side of scrapbooking or would like to venture into this realm, then we
encourage you to try out!!
Commitment is important, so we want to be straightforward with what we are looking for. We
want to see ambitious, outgoing, forum savvy scrappers that share in the same love as we do.
This DT position will start with our May, 2011 kit and end with our October, 2011 kit and we are
looking for 2 designers for this term. This is open to everyone. Anyone outside of the US or Canada will have to pay shipping fees.
Here is what we will need from you:
1. You must complete a minimum of 5 layouts/cards/projects per month and have 4 of them
ready to upload by reveal day, which is the 15th of every month, and the 5th layout/project should
be uploaded about a week after reveal day. These layouts need to be placed in the SOD
gallery, blogs, scrapbook.com, and any other public galleries that you participate in.
2. Daily participation on our forum and a daily check in on our Design Team forum, as well as
keeping up in the galleries is a must. DT responsibilities, such as posting a Question of The
Week, will be rotated amongst our DT and we would also like you to start new threads that
encourage posting by our members.
3. You must complete at least 2 tutorials within your 6 month DT term for SOD. These can be
either photo or video tutorials.
In return for your commitment, you will receive the entire main kit, as well as TWO additional add-
ons free of charge!! You will also have first dibs on any additional add-ons featured throughout
the months you are a DT at a 50% discount. In addition, we offer a 30% discount in our store for
DT members.
Here is how to apply:
Please send all applications and attachments to dtcall@scrapsofdarkness.com
Please include the following:
1. Name, Address, Phone Number
2. Submit three layouts total - Include two layouts that show us your alternative side or the darker
side of your work. For example: Distressed, Grunge, Steampunk, Mixed Media, Dark, etc. Then
also include a third layout that you would say is your favorite or best layout, and this can be any style.
3. Tell us why you think you would be a good addition to the SOD team
4. Provide links to blogs and galleries, and any resume you may have
5. List of all current DT commitments, and please note that our designers may not design for or
in any way advertise other kit clubs. We have no problem with DT members designing for
manufacturers, sketch sites, local stores, etc, but it is counterproductive to have them advertise
our competitors.
All submissions must be received by April 15th and we will have an official public
announcement by April 20th!!
Good Luck Everyone!!

~What's in my Purse~
The Bo Bunny blog has a "what's in your purse" challenge going right now and I thought that was such a fun idea, I decided to play along. I decided to use papers and embellishments from the Gabrielle line. Gorgeous papers by the way, inspired by an amazing artist Gabrielle Pollacco who is a DT for Bo Bunny. I also used the bracket frame that Bo Bunny did several years back. So here is my entry for the challenge.
I own a Coach purse that I have had for quite a long time now. I use it to stuff everything into, but luckily when I dumped it out on the floor I only had the basics in it. Normally I have a pair of Brooklyn's socks that she removed in the car, gum wrappers, or wadded up receipts from the grocery store.
Here is a close up of the contents. My iPad, old Dooney wallet, Wisp toothbrushes ( I love those things), kleenex, Carmex, make-up bag, Aleve bottle that probably has Tylenol in it, a few dollars floating inside, lip gloss, keys, hand sanitizer and my hair scissors. I have a habit of cutting my split ends one by one if I am sitting and waiting in the car for one of my kids or hubby. I know, it's weird, but it passes the time and it's therapeutic lol.
Thanks for stopping by and God Bless!!!

~A Splash of Color~
I have been a follower of The Color Room for over a year, but I never got around to doing any of the challenges there. So about four weeks ago I decided I needed to jump in and play. I'm so glad I did, because I am not totally addicted to it lol. I love the challenge of trying to find the right colors, which I am still working on perfecting, and the amazing work the design team does over there. WOW!! It's awesome!! Anyways the newest palette was loaded with color and here is what I came up with.
The photo is of my dd Rylee and she took it of herself. I added the Brick Wall Panel from Dusty Attic. This is an awesome chippie because you can break it apart and place the bricks where ever you would like.
I coated these little bricks with gesso first and then sprayed them with smooch spritz.
I used a Prima mask for these balloons on a separate sheet of paper. Then I cut them out and used pink stickles on them.
Thanks for stopping by and God Bless!!

~Punky Scraps~
Punky Scraps has some great challenges going on this month on their blog and the last challenge was to interpret this photo below in any way we see it. First off as a photographer, I have to say I LOVE this photo!! So dang cool!!
I had a totally different idea in mind then I came across this photo that my dd Rylee took of a little girl she baby sits for and I had to use it instead. I did my best to incorporate green and stripes to it :D I mixed a bit of some of my SOD kits as well!!I LOVE Petaloo!! They just keep getting better and better!!

~ Scraps of Darkness and Sketch Inspiration~
Scraps of Darkness got together with Sketch Inspiration to sponsor a challenge and the girls at SOD wanted to pitch in and throw out some examples to go with the sketch!! There was a little mix up at first so some of us DT girls did last weeks sketch instead of the sketch that is being revealed today. The good news is I get to reveal two more layouts for SOD!
Here is my first layout based on Sketch 212 which revealed today. This is my daughter Raine and she had some photos taken of her recently, so I had to scrap a few of them. I did the frame cut out free hand using an exacto knife and used some leafy ribbon that I got from my very good friend Katie777.
This layout was based on the previous sketch 211 and I used a bit of Dusty Attic on this as well. These are my three youngest girls.
To achieve this look on your chippie you can ink first, then I used some gesso and went around the edges and sporadically sprinkled some embossing powder. Then I went around the edges with my heat gun.
Thanks for stopping by and God Bless!!

~ I Made a Video ~
I had a couple people ask me to do more of a show and tell tutorial for my backgrounds and so I had my 13 year old daughter, Rylee, help me put together a video. I created a new layout with this type of background as well and figured I would show them all here together.
This is my oldest daughter, Raine. She had some photos done for a portfolio. I used some SOD papers, a Dusty Attic chippie and I also used a kit from KatieKreations4u!! The background was done totally in Lindy Stamp Gang mists that were included in the last Scraps of Darkness color add on.
These beautiful vines are made by Katie777! She does some of the most gorgeous handmade vines I've seen!
I've been wanting to use this large Dusty Attic gate for a while and I ended up getting the idea to use half of it for the background.
To see the video click here or go to the top of my page and click "video" :)
Thanks for stopping by and God Bless!!

~Scraps of Darkness March Reveal of Vintage Revelry~
So do you love vintage as much as I do? How about old movies and movie stars? Did I get your attention yet? If you answered yes to any of the above questions then I recommend you continue reading on. Scraps of Darkness just came out with their March kit called 'Vintage Revelry' and it's PACKED full of Graphic 45, Paper Loft, Prima, Kaiser Crafts, Moon Mists and more more more!! Holy smokes this was such a fun kit to play with!!
I always show my sketch layout first, so here it is. This was based on the exclusive sketch for SOD created by Charlotte aka Suepup. This is a layout of me and I call it 'Pause' because sometimes I wish I could just pause time.
This wavy cut is super easy to do if you have an exacto knife. No need to draw a line just cut some waves in your paper. I just lifted it a bit to place some of the black lace behind it.I always show my sketch layout first, so here it is. This was based on the exclusive sketch for SOD created by Charlotte aka Suepup. This is a layout of me and I call it 'Pause' because sometimes I wish I could just pause time.
This is a great shot of how beautiful the Moon Shadow mists are. I used a Dusty Attic clock as a mask and used these clock hands (included in the kit) to create the look.
I've been a bit melting pot happy and had to dip this flower into it to see how it would turn out. It looks edible! I don't recommend eating it though :D Ok check out the awesome metal flowers from Prima!! I so want a ton more of those lol.
This layout is of my daughter, Tyler standing next to her best friend. I based this on a sketch over at Sketchesforyou.ning.com! I added a little bit of my own stash including some Dusty chippies.
I've had these sunflowers for the longest time and I kept forgetting to use them. These actually came off a bouquet of fake flowers and I popped all the buds off.
Tip: Buy the fake florals at the end of each season and they are super cheap!!
The buttons are Dusty chippies from their new line. I coated them in the embossing powder that's included in the kit. I then strung some wire through them and curled it up.
I finally had a layout to use this gorgeous Flower Stem chippie from Dusty. I just inked the stem and used gold stickles on the bud. This next layout is of my daughter, Tyler. She looks gorgeous as a fall fairy and it's my last pic to scrap from this shoot. This Prima canvas is included in the color add on along with SEVEN bottles of mists!!To get the look I got on the canvas I first used Gesso which I just painted on with a large brush. Then I let it dry and used some walnut stain Ranger ink. That is what gave it the dirty look. Then I placed down one of the birdcages from the romance add on and used it as a mask. I sprayed some more of the Moon Shadow mists. Some fussy cut flowers from the Paper Loft papers. I did add my own brads for the centers.
I totally messed up this layout, so that is why I used the black lace here. When I went to sew the pic down, the canvas bunched up and my pic ended up a bit crooked. I like to admit mistakes because even the best of the best makes them and it's ok! Don't beat yourself up over them :)
In the Romance add on we had this gorgeous door knob from Graphic 45. I decided to use mine on a journal. I coated the front and back with Gesso and let it dry. Then I used some metallic green paint and went over the Gesso. After it tried I sanded it a little bit here and there.
I used some Dusty Attic corner chippies and a key on this. I dipped them all in my melting pot. I used some of the bling on them and it fit so good!!
Grunge Baby!! I think I mentioned my newly formed addiction to my melting pot above :) I used it all over the place on this, including pouring it directly onto my page.
These are some of the new Dusty Attic chippie flowers and foliage. I inked and then dipped the flowers into my pot (filled with UTEE) and after they dried I cracked them. Makes them look like broken glass.
My UTEE was beginning to get brown from all the inked chippies, so I poured the rest out on my page. It hardened right away and it feels neat lol.
The papers in this kit are awesome!! As some of you know I am a HUGE fan of Graphic 45. This line is no exception. This is my dd, Brooky. I call this layout 'Diva' for the look lol.
Some mini roses created with the paper. Really easy to make with a 5 petal flower punch. I have seen a tutorial done in so many places, so that's why I haven't done one.
These are some Prima butterflies that have sequence on them. I had to take some of the excess sequence off because it was a little too much for me. I also sprayed it with some ink to darken it a little.
Here is a close up of the pin I made for the kit this month. I added a cute key charm this month.
Well that is it for now!! I did do a layout for Sketch Inspiration that will debut on the 20th when her new sketch is posted.
Thanks for stopping by and God Bless!!
